Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide (DSIP) is a naturally occurring nonapeptide first isolated from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits in a state of sleep induced by electrical stimulation of the intralaminary thalamic area. It is characterized as a neuroregulatory peptide that influences systemic physiological processes.

Research indicates that DSIP crosses the blood-brain barrier and exhibits a variety of neuromodulatory effects, primarily involving the regulation of slow-wave sleep and the attenuation of stress-induced corticotropin secretion.
